Terms
FOX ON THE MOON PRESS
Terms of Service
These terms explain the ground rules for using our website and purchasing our books, digital products and services.
Last updated: 15 September 2026
THE SHORT VERSION
Please use our website respectfully, provide accurate order details and do not copy or redistribute our books or artwork. We will treat your order with care and honour all rights available to you under applicable consumer law.
01
Agreement to these terms
This website is operated by Fox on the Moon Press. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Fox on the Moon Press. “You” refers to anyone who visits the website, places an order or uses our services.
By accessing this website or purchasing from us, you agree to these Terms of Service and any policies linked from them. If you do not agree, please do not use the website. These terms do not limit rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
02
Our website and store
Our website offers children’s books, ebooks, related materials and, from time to time, educational or family-focused services. Product availability, formats and features may change.
You must be legally able to enter into a purchase contract in your location. Purchases for children must be made or authorised by an adult. You agree to provide current, complete and accurate contact, billing and delivery information.
03
Products, prices, orders and payment
We take care to describe and display our products accurately. Screen settings, paper, printing and handmade or natural variations can affect how colours and finishes appear. Images are illustrative and do not guarantee an exact colour match.
Prices and available currencies are shown on the website. Shipping, taxes, customs duties or other charges are shown separately where applicable. We may correct an obvious pricing or description error before accepting or dispatching an order and will offer you the choice to proceed at the correct price or receive a refund.
An order confirmation acknowledges that we received your order. We may decline or cancel an order when an item is unavailable, payment is not authorised, information appears incorrect, fraud is suspected or fulfilment would violate law. If payment has been taken for an order we cannot accept, it will be refunded.
Payments are processed by third-party payment providers made available through our ecommerce platform. Their terms and privacy practices may also apply.
04
Preorders
Preorder dates are good-faith estimates and can change because of printing, freight, customs or other circumstances outside our reasonable control. We will communicate a material delay using the email address supplied with your order.
You may cancel a preorder before dispatch for a full refund. Once it has been dispatched, our Shipping & Returns policy applies.
05
Ebooks and digital products
When you purchase an ebook or another digital product, you receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use it for your own private or household use. Ownership of the copyright and other intellectual-property rights does not transfer to you.
Unless we give written permission, you may not reproduce, upload, share, sell, lend, publicly display, adapt, translate, distribute or use a digital product commercially. Schools and organisations should contact us about classroom, library or institutional permissions.
Access may depend on compatible software, hardware and a working internet connection. Digital-return conditions are explained in our Shipping & Returns policy.
06
Author visits and other services
Enquiries do not create a booking. Author visits, workshops, planning sessions and other services are confirmed only when the parties agree in writing on the scope, date, fee, payment terms and any relevant cancellation arrangements.
Any programme description is a guide and may be adapted to the age, number, needs and setting of participants. Schools and organisers remain responsible for appropriate adult supervision, safeguarding, permissions, venue safety and technology at their location unless a written agreement states otherwise.
07
Copyright and intellectual property
The website and its contents, including text, stories, illustrations, photographs, artwork, downloads, designs, logos and branding, are owned by or licensed to Fox on the Moon Press and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
You may view the website for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, scrape, republish, train or operate an automated system on, modify, distribute, sell or exploit our content without prior written permission, except where such restriction is prohibited by law. Linking to public pages in a fair and non-misleading way is welcome.
08
Acceptable use
You must not use the website to:
- break a law or infringe another person’s rights;
- submit false, harmful, abusive or misleading information;
- introduce malware or interfere with the website’s operation or security;
- collect information about other users without lawful permission;
- circumvent purchase limits, access controls or security measures; or
- use our content, name or branding in a way that implies our endorsement.
We may restrict access, cancel affected orders or take other reasonable action when misuse or unlawful activity is suspected.
09
Privacy and third-party services
Our handling of personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy. The website may use or link to services provided by Shopify, payment processors, delivery companies, digital-download providers and other third parties. Their own terms and privacy policies may apply to their services.
A link to another website does not mean we control or endorse all of its content. Please review third-party terms before using their services.
10
Availability, responsibility and liability
We aim to keep the website accurate and available, but cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free access. We may update, suspend or discontinue website features when reasonably necessary.
Our stories, articles, travel observations and educational materials are provided for general reading and inspiration. They are not a substitute for professional, legal, medical, safety, educational or travel advice. Parents, guardians, schools and organisers are responsible for deciding what is appropriate for their children and circumstances.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable loss arising from use of the website or a product. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence where applicable.
11
Events outside reasonable control
We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control, including natural disasters, severe weather, strikes, carrier disruption, customs delays, war, civil emergencies, government action, widespread internet failures or interruption to printing and supply chains. We will take reasonable steps to reduce the effect and communicate material delays.
12
Changes, governing law and contact
We may update these terms to reflect changes to our products, services or legal obligations. The date at the top shows the latest revision. Changes apply from publication and do not remove rights already attached to an accepted order.
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. This does not deprive a consumer of mandatory protections available under the law of their place of residence. Any dispute will be handled by a court with jurisdiction under applicable law.
Questions about these terms may be sent to hello@foxonthemoon.com.
